Passenger Door Wont Open S70 1998

I own a 98 S70 T5 and have a problem with the passenger door not opening from the outside. It does open from the inside just not the outside. I never heard anything break in the door that might have caused the problem so i really cant figure out what is causing it. I have taken of the door panel but cannot get to area where the door lock and latch are located because of metal that is covering it. Does anyone know of this issue or know how to fix it?
