instrument cluster/odometer gear 850

Hi,
My odometer failed and i would like to know if the odometer gear location is inside the instrument cluster. I was thinking of getting a used instrument cluster rather than buying a seperate gear but I think the gear is not located within the instrument cluster but behind it?
