air mass meter quirks 850

I had an AMM replaced in my car aboout 20K miles ago....for the past 5k miles, I sometimes get a stumbling on acceleration, sometimes even a stall, and the engine light comes on with a AMM fault (or irch/lean fuel mix, which I think is an air leak). This usually happens before the car if fully warmed up.

At this point, I was going to buy a new AMM unit and swap it out (about $200)...is there an easy way to test the existing amm? I don't have a fancy mulitimeter to test it with. Also, do I just swap the new unit in...is there an idle adjustment to make?

I heard that a bad temp sensor in the airbox can ruin an amm...not sure if my model, a '93 850 non-turbo even has one....

thanks
mark
