Mobil 1 Extended Performance? 850 1996

Anyone had experience with the new Mobil 1 Extended Performance synthetic? They are claiming 15k miles or 1 year duration between changes and enhanced protection additives over Mobil 1 -- sounds like Amsoil is pushing them a bit.
Always used Mobil 1 10/30 every 5K miles, but extending this is appealing if the new oil really holds up.
