rough shifting automatic 850 1997

As many of us know, the automatic gearbox on these guys is a weak point.
I had to have my 1995 850's tranny re-built at 118k miles. I also bought it used with 92k on it at the time. I think the mentality was to not change the ATF at all when you should actually flush it every 25-30k miles.
My recommnedation would be to start by asking around at work or your neighbors as to where a reputable Mom/pop automatic trans repair shop might be in your area. I found one in a different state (DE) from where I lived and drove it over a hour to get a quality repair. They re-built my exsiting trans for $2200 including parts and labor. One year/12,000 warranty. I felt better re-building mine instead of those pre-packaged jobs from the dealer. Good luck!
