emmision light and rough startup S80

i've had the emission light for a few months now and recently when the car is started from cold it takes three or four seconds for the idle to settle down,it sounds a bit like a misfire,if you try to rev the engine during this time it makes it worse,wether it is a misfire or a mixture problem i don't know,once it settles down the car runs fine,when starting from warm it starts perfect.Could the two problems be connected?thanks for any help in advance.
