Memory Seats and Mirrors V70-XC70 2005

On my 2005 V70, I have two key fobs which are supposed to "remember" the seat and mirror settings of the driver using them. In other words, when a seat and mirrors are set and the car is locked by the fob - the settings are recalled back when the driver returns, even if the seat and mirrors have been moved. I've gone through the manual and believe I'm doing things right, but it's not working. Advice or steps?
