Reset service light not working 850 1995

I have a 95 850 and the service light came on. I have good luck with this forum in the past, so I searched for the code reset and I got several (of the same instructions). I follow them

Turn ignition on but don't start car.

2. Take the wire plugged into the cap and insert it into port #7.

3.Enter #4 code (push button 4 times) and wait for light to flash.

4. Enter the code 1-5-1 and wait for the light to flash.

5. Take the wire out of the port and replace it in the cap and replace the cap.

But, in step 3 the light never comes on. I can't get past that.

Two questions...

1. Is there another way to reset this service light (that doesn't involve a piece of electrical tape over the light on the dash :) )?

2. Is there a way to fix my steps to get the light to flash in step three? Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks a ton!

Paully
