SC-816 head unit and CD changer

Hello fellow Brick owners.
Can anyone help me. I have a 98 V70 AWD with the SC-816 factory stereo (head unit). I have just installed an Alpine CHM-630 CD changer in the glove box
and have run all the wires and used the proper adapter etc. The CD changer is getting power but when I push the "CHGR" button on the head unit, the SC-816 displays "EEEE". I do not receive an audio signal from the changer. Any thoughts/suggestions. Does this setup need to be "programmed" from the dealer?
Thank you. Roger (krcrowe@shaw.ca)
