V70 wagon water in the oil. V70-XC70 1998

Hi everybody. I'm considering a 98 V70 wagon with about 110,000 miles. It has water in the oil. They suspect the head gasket. It supposedly was taken out of service when the problem was discovered. It would be about $2800 to buy it.
I have changed head gaskets on the 16v 740 and thought it might be an easy fix. Your thoughts please.
