Volvo 240 vs. 850 850

I normally tiptoe through the 240 forum, but wanted to get some ideas
from the 850 loyalists...
Any thoughts about how good 850's are in terms of:
- Safety
- Mechanical dependability
- Logngevity
- Ease of work
- Fun to drive

I actually drove a '95 850 GLT (for sale) today and thought it had
a lot of pep and very solid suspension. Nice leather seats,
Cruise Control, sun roof, electric seats, etc. 116K miles
and asking $5000.
