Advice on a good independent mechanic in Boston or New Haven area?

Our poor old 1995 Volvo 850 needs some TLC-- new timing belt, mysterious groaning sounds, etc. and we have reason to believe that our old mechanic didn't do everything he was supposed to do during the full tuneup we requested last year.

Time to find a new guy! Anybody have any recommendations for a good shop in the Boston area or near New Haven, CT? We're in Somerville, and our family lives in the New Haven area. We could always take the car to a dealer, but they do tend to charge more.

Thank you,
Jean
