Finally fixed niggling A/C Problem '95 850 Turbo Wagon 850 1995

So, here it goes....A/C would work for about 25 min, then the compressor would stop. I tried to charge it my self and it seemed to keep doing the same thing. Compressor would go for a while, then the pressure would drop below 26lbs on the low side and the thing would compress, stop, compress, stop.

So, I brought it to a local shop thinking that the compressor was toast, or better, there was some moisture in the lines. I had them evacuate and recharge the thing. got a call from the shop saying "come pick up your car with COLD A/C".

I figure, cool, fixed for a hundred bux. So, that night, we went for a ride and about 40 min. in, the heavy, humid air starts coming in the car again. Damn...the thing is not working.

So, I brought it home and checked for codes. I got a 414, drivers side airflow sensor fan stalled. So, I popped the cover on the sensor (underneath the "oh, crap" handle above the driver's head) and put a flashlight in there. Sure enough, the thing had ingested enough crap over the years to knit a sock.

Out comes the Sears Craftsman 900hp shopvac. I put the "car cleaning" head onthe hose and cranked it up. At this point, I didn't care if the thing spit a code for reverse voltage or whatever...I'd had enough! I sucked the life out of that thing. then, I turned on the car and A/C. Well, wouldn't you know it...the damned thing works! So, after driving for a week, the A/C has not exhibited the problem again! I also am getting no codes. It seems that the sensor was causing such a problem that the A/C computer would just shut itself down.

Anyone else run into this?

AJ
