97-855 ball joints

Hi All,

My 97-855 has developed an intermitant creeking sound from the left front suspension area. I suspect it is the ball joint. I took it to Borton Volvo, but by then the sound had disapeared and they could not locate a problem. The creeking sound remained in remision. Now two weeks later the creeking has returned, but is still intermitant. I am taking the car back to the dealer to have them inspect it again. I am the original owner of the car. She has 95K on the odo.

My question is, if it is the left side ball joint needs to be replaced should I have both sides repaired since the right side is due for failure as well?
Is there anything else I should have done with the suspension at the same time?

Everything on the car's suspension is original. I gave the dealer carte blach to replace the struts and shocks, but they told me they were in good shape. The car lives a lives a life freeway driving as seen by the fact that I am still on my original rear brake pads and only one pad change up front at 60K.

TIA,

Chuck
