code P0352 S70 T5 S70 1999

Mark:
I pulled the spark coil cover; there was no indication it had been opened at all during the belt change, although the top belt cover bolts had been removed during that the re-belting. No indication of crimped wires on any of the coil packages, and when I disconnected the wires to the coil pack, there was no indication of corrosion (there was some crumbling of the wire loom on a different set of wires, but no fraying of insulation on the wirres themselves--I wound on some nylon loom I had on hand). Cleared the code, restarted the engiine, and got the 0352 code again. There was some fresh motor oil in the recess where the coil packs are, which did not surprise me since it's right next to the oil filler cap.
Any suggestion on what next? dealer is a long way away, and I've parked the car till I get further ideas, since I'm starting to notice some subsonic detonation-type impulses the more I run it ( cat loading up from the unburnt fuel?) Should I order a coil pack, or is there more I should do or have done diagnostically first? If this is likely the coil pack, should I just go ahead and order a second one, on the assumption that there will be more failures shortly? engine has about 72K miles on it. I'm not what anybody would call a competent mechanic, but I can follow most instructions (if they are written great big in one-syllable words, with a large crayon)
Thanks again
