'95 850 heater / ac fan motor 850

The heater/ac fan and motor came apart recently. The plastic fan fell apart. I replaced the unit with a good, tested unit and the fan runs at high speed at all times. Top turn it off, I need to pull the electrical connector off the fan itself. Granted, here in Phoenix it is 112 degrees, but after a few minutes the car cools down enough to turn down the fan speed, which cannot be done now. Also, this is the second used fan I installed, and the other one ran on speed #3 at all times, so I replaced it.

Is it a coincidence and the fan switch is now shot or ????????????

Thanks,

joe
