The pollen filter is a good idea but it will not strain any of the moisture out of the air. It is a filter, not a sponge. What it will do though is filter out all of the contaminents in the air that will either get inhaled by you or stick to you dripping wet evaporator and over time will eroded the evaporator to the point that it leaks. Having done my share of evaps I can tell you that the leak is always underneath a pile of crap and crud that has been sucked into the evap because of a lack of a cabin filter.
Tune-up, I would run either a factory Volvo or a Mann air filter. Buy the Bosch cap and rotor, buy factory Volvo spark plugs, and buy the Bougicord plug wire set ( they are factory Volvo and will say so on them).
