Blown Disk on intake manifold V70-XC70

My dealer says that the metal disk which holds the vacuum nipple onto the intake manifold blew off. They said it appeared to have been glued in and Volvo does not offer just the disk and that the whole intake manifold needs to be replaced. Is there a big heat load here? Does this seem credible? Can't it be epoxied in or is there a pressure relief function.
