Climate Control Vents 850 1993

My A/C recently intermittently misbahave. I usually have the vents set such that the air is blowing out from the front onto the driver & passenger's face. For some reason, on a few occassions, the air suddenly get redirected to the floor chilling my feet even though the knob is still set a blowing in the face. Once that happened, I cannot redirect the air flow even if I turn the switch. The problem seems to occur occassionally and I cannot force it to reproduce.

Does anyone have any idea what's wrong with my climate control?

I have a 93' 850 GLT.

Thank you.
