850 a/c issue 850 1995

Before you change the evap, check to see if the a/c compressor clutch gap is correct. I think, but don't quote me here, it should be between .4 and .6 mm. If the gap is too large clutch can't be pulled in. It's like a coil and the magnetic field is not strong enough to pull it in if the gap is too large. There is a repair procedure on volvoclub.org.uk, somewhere. I had the same problem and my mechanic adjusted the clutch, I think he removed some shims to close the gap.
I wish I could get you closer on that website, I'll look around.
