Shift Lock Over ride-Volvo 850 850 1997

In recent weeks I have had to use my Shift Lock Over Ride button to get my car out of park. Any ideas why this would be happening? Yesterday in addition to that problem, my speedometer and turn signals did not work for about 10 minutes. What could that issue be?
