Removing Sensor Blower for Climate Control?????? V70-XC70

Does anyone know how to remove the sensor blower without damaging the dashboard? It's located to the right of the defogger button. There's a fragile sensor just infront of the 1/2 inch blower that makes it difficult to remove the lint and dust from the blower's impeller. I tried removing the bottom panel underneath the steering wheel and there's a steel knee bolster in the way. I tried removing the switch covers and the defogger switch but I'm still unable to access the little blower. Should I go at it from the center console? This would mean removing the climate control and radio.

There is enough crud on the blower to prevent the impeller from spinning intermittently. When this happens, the lights on the AC and Recirculation button are flashing after startup. I would take a thin dowel and turn the impeller by hand to free it up. I've already used a vacuum cleaner and compressed air.

Thanks,
Limon
