If it is sort of rectangular with a round interior and has a connector on it along with 3 hoses (one on the top and 2 on each end), it's the turbocharger control valve. It controls the boost pressure of your turbo by calibrating the air intake , temperature, etc. It is essential for proper turbo functioning...probably why you're getting waste gate error codes. It could be one of the hoses that's clogged, not this unit or dirty filter among other things. I'd check with your indy mechanic, or if you don't have one, the dealer.
