Odometer Failure - But not the gear(s) 850 1996

My events were in reverse to your post: first I had odometer failure, then I had an ABS light come ON. Do you think that my odometer failure was actually a problem with the ABS unit, then it deteriorated further to trigger the ABS light to ON? Regardless, I do need the ABS fixed, the odometer is optional. I can't pass inspection in September without it. Is there anything else needed to verify the ABS unit is gone or does the light tell us its the controller?
