Even if you can't find somebody to read the codes for free, you can always go to an independent shop and pay them a couple of bucks for the five minutes or so it will take them to plug in the reader and write down the codes.
Get it done soon, and get online for the mantenance parts. The whole thing will cost less than the tow bill later if you don't do the maintenance now.
