Removal and replacement of front bumper 850

I cannot give you detailed instructions on the job, but here's what I did to change our damaged front bumper cover and top to the parts for an R model.

I think that this is what I did!

Remove license plate and bracket.

Remove the plastic pieces under the headlights, pry the inner end out and peek in to see the next clip. There are three tabs that fit into three metal clips.

Drill out the rivets that hold the rear of the bumper cover to the front of the wheel well liner.

unclip the air diverter from the bottom of the bumper cover, there are three clips that hold these pieces together. You may need to drop the diverter down and out to do this, it is held by 4 bolts, two on each end.

remove the bolts from the top of the bumper.

I think that the bumper cover and top will now come off. This procedure may not be completely correct, but I did not encounter any "tricks" to get the covers off.

A word of caution about re-assembly. It is difficult to get all the rivets in the wheel well to line up when you are putting the cover back on. It is also important to have all the fasteners in place inside the wheel well before you start, because if some have been lost as is often the case, the front of the bumper cover may sag a bit if you rivet it together without all the fastners in place.

When I attached the rivets, I first put large nails through all the holes to line them up, then I installed the poorest fitting rivet in first. That process made the job a lot easier.
