AC FLYWHEEL 850 1995

Laurie,
The "skipping" is the compressor which engages a clutch (what you see turning) to push the r134a down the line. The "smoke" should have been white, the r134a is super cold gas and causes the water in the air to cool down to make a cloud. The rapid cycling of the ac clutch is normal for a system with only a little r134a left in it.
Take it to a radiator/ac shop to get it fixed. They have the black lights to see the leak after dye is added to the system.
