Volvo V50 2.4i, the car radio drains the battery when the car is off?? V50 2005

I just got a v50, my first volvo and nowhere in the manual, unless i'm missing it does it say that you have to turn off the radio or else the car battery is drained even when the car is off.

I went to start the car after it sat in the driveway for a day since I didn't need to drive anywhere, and nothing would happen, the key went in, turned and no response from anything. I even had to open the door using the valet key.

I called support and they said it sounded like the battery had been drained. I've had other cars before, hondas, etc., but NONE have ever had their battery drained when the car was OFF.

Is this something normal and how come it's not documented anywhere?

thanks,

sanjay
