850 alarm drains battery 850 1997

Hello,
my Dad's '97 855R loses its battery charge when it is not driven over a period of 4-5 days. The battery voltage becomes so low that the car won't start.

This car has a brand new battery. The alternator shows 14+ volts when charging, battery shows 12.5+ volts @ rest.
So I don't think it's a problem in the charging/storage system.

This car also has the stock alarm system. The Master Tech @ our local Volvo dealer says that the alarm drains the battery and suggested I simply disconnect the battery if it is going to sit for over 5 days.

We've done this many times, but we would like a more permanent solution, like dis-arming the alarm.

Has anyone here been able to disable the stock alarm?

Is it as simple as removing a relay or a fuse? If so, which ones should be removed?

Thank you for any help you can offer.
