Homelink Garage Door Opener S70 2000

My Homelink garage door opener stopped working. The buttons on the visor are illuminated and seem to be working OK. I suspect the transmitter unit is malfunctioning but I have no idea where to find it. Can anyone tell me where the Homelink transmitter is? Under the hood someplace? Imbedded in the rear-view mirror?
