A/C receiver dryer removal 850

I can't get the spring coupler to release off the receiver dryer. I am using the proper 5/8 tool. I've put plenty of wd40 into the spring side. Do I have to remove the connection to the compressor to get more play? I know that's what the manual states, but I have plenty of play once I disconnet the receiver bracket.

I realize I'm suppose to be pressing in the tool into the garter spring while pulling on the pipe at the same time. How much force do I use? How can I increase the leverage? I don't want to damage the female end coming from the pipe that goes to the firewall.

Any help would be much appreciated.
