exhaust leak 850 1995

I have developed an exhaust leak that seems to have started as soon as i lowered my car after doing my rear brakes and calipers. oh well, just my luck!!!!! It appears that the pipe that exits the catalic converter has cracked causing an obnoxious leak that is even loud at idle. Any sugestions, can this be removed and welded? Is a new cat my only hope, if so who do you sugest for a replacement, fcp groton is around $250.00. Thanks for any advice. 1995 850 sedan normaly asperated.
