gap between strut mount and top rubber stop, below big nut. 850 1995

Hey all , I just had a friend of mine who just happens to be a volvo mechanic replace my shocks and sway bar links and strut mounts. the bilstein heavy dutys'feel great but there is a gap between the rubber mount under the top nut and the spring mount. It is about a 1/4 inch gap and does not seem to be affecting noise or handling. Any ideas? Any possible probs? Thanx for input. 95 850 turbo wagon. I used the original springs.
