Replacing door stop strap

The driver's side door stop strap that seems to malfunction on many 850's has done so on my friend's 96T-wagon. Volvo Houston wants $32 for the part, FCPGroton $36. The strap appears to have failed inside the door. Where it hooks to the chassis seems to be okay.

Never tackled this job before. Is there much to it? Tricks? I checked Bay 13 hoping to find how to replace it, but they only detail how to take the inside door panel off. Can you get at the inside attach point to loosen it? Dick
