Starting/running problem 850 1993

My 850 started having problems lately. It won't start usually, but if it does it will run fine for a couple seconds and the "check engine" light flashes and it dies. Sometimes I can get it to run for a while and actually drive, but ultimately it meets the same fate. I have already changed the fuel filter and ruled out and fuel problems. I have also changed the spark plugs, wires, distributor, and rotor. I'm guessing it could be a sensor. However, the AAA guy messed around w/ the ignition coil and it started right up at a time when it wouldn't start at all, but did end up shutting off again. Maybe the ground on the ignition coil??? Any help would be greatly appreciated. School's starting pretty soon!!
