If Bruce or you are in California or Maine, it is possible that you can get Volvo to cover the ETM cleaning and replacing, but other states have not got the laws in place for this...at least not YET.

The reason that the ETM wasn't cleaned under warranty is because it's in the 60K mile service. It sucks but true. I'd still complain to the service manager and ask him about their "Goodwill" clause....Yes, they do have such a thing and can do it if they really want to.
