ok we have a bit of fuel issue goign on in the UK at the moment so as i had to drive 400+ miles this week on monday night i was being very carefull to try and maximise what was in the tank....(didnt know if i would get more!)
150+ miles, probably 20 miles residential, 130 motorway (interstate??)...found fule so re-fueled
light right foot round the residential, 56mph on cruis on the highway...
car is a '95 850 2.5 20 valve auto saloon (sedan) with 93k on it, no mods bar good servicing, tyres at 32 psi (normal!) 16" rims with 205/50r16's...nothing special, one person & lugage & full tank so say equal to 2 people..
normally i average about 30-32 on similar journeys (quite a bit faster!)...
the computer said 44.2MPG - i filled it back up (started full) and sure enough it was doing 44.2mprg...
over all trip of 406 miles (the second half on rural roads, or motorways at 70 and overall i averaged 36.4, had i maintained my 'miser' driving style im absoluetely convince i would have been in the low-mid 40's...
so its notthe car its how you drive it living proof!
