I had a very similary situation. The engine would die while driving or idling, causing all dash lights to come on and forcing me to coast to the side of the road. If I immediately cranked the engine, it would generally NOT start, but if I let it sit for a few minutes it would start and run. This happened several times. I replaced the fuel pump relay, a ten minute job as the relay is located in the fuse panel under the hood. No problems since then. The fuel pump relay is $47.50 +shipping from FCP Groton and is part# 9434225.
