Would that make me a 'wannabe' V70 newbie? V70-XC70

You will need to anticipate replacing at least the following:

Radiator, heater core, abs module, tranny fluid. I have a 98 V70 T5 and have replaced all of the above, as reported here, most others have too. The 99 has a few other quirks I am not familiar with. The V70 series are nice cars, but nothing like the old 240's in terms of reliability and durability.
