Unless your car has over 150K miles on it, I would not suspect a water pump failure. Is there a Autozone or Pepboys in your neck of New England? They will read the codes for free. Without the codes, we cannot tell you what is wrong. With the codes, you will know what is wrong and why the CEL is on.
True, water pump failures do not turn on the CEL. O2 sensors do.
