Replace 850 Heater Blower Motor: with or without 'cage'? 850 1995

On my squirrel cage (the fan wheel) there are a couple of small balancing weights. If you're replacing you might want to buy the whole assembly, assuming a new one will have been pre-balanced. I've found little weights on 1 or 2 fans of other types such as bathroom exhausts.

On my 95-850 I cleaned brushes & commutator and re-oiled my fan a couple of times in the last few years. It still performs ok. When it first acted up it looked like water had been getting in there on and off for a while. I would agree with the other reply to put in the cabin filter if you don't have it. It's built up a little higher and may help keep water away from the motor.

If the fan runs poorly but is not noisy look for loose or corroded connections.
