Thanks for the info. guys. After about 30 minutes of fishing with a coat hanger, I decided to take the grill off as shown in the link posted above. The grill was very easy to remove and replace. I used a black plastic wire tie to attach to the latch and threaded the excess back in the grill once the hood was shut.
