Leaking Windshield Washer Fluid 850 1994

Hi Ed,

I had a similar issue with the rear squirter on my V70. Just before the reservoir, you should see a length of hose with an open end. About 4" down from that is a "T" connection. Quite often, the "T" will fail, and you will have fluid coming out the open end, and it will generally just squirt onto the nearest surface and drip down.

In my case, it was squirting directly on the aux belt pully at the alternator, and causing the alternator/battery light to come on, because the aux belt was slipping on the pully that is now soaked with ww fluid.

I was prepared to tear the wheel well apart, and then I decided to hook up my trusty washer pull string (hook a looped string up to the washer lever, apply a small square of duct tape to hold it there, open your rear driver side window, and bring the string back through the rear window, turn the key to position II and then walk to the front of the car with the string in your hand. Pull the sting, and observe if you can see any obvious "mis-squirting".

alternately, if you have someone to help you, forego the string trick, and ask them to keep an eye on the area around the ww tank, and you go inside and operate the stalk by hand.

Good Luck, Ed.

Dave
