Duties and Taxes my friend.
Thats the problem.

Dealer quoted $850 for a new unit, It would be cheaper to have it repaired and fly over to pick it up by myself.

Im shure theres no magic involved. read some posts from UK volvo forums and found out that lots of people did it by themselves.
I will keep you updated.
