He is in Peru, not LA. And I suspect our FEDERAL law doesn't apply to him, even though he is an American (South).
And the cat is not as good as a well tuned engine running without a cat. In order for a cat to work, it needs very high heat, and a hot engine creates more NOx than a cooler engine.
PLEASE, we all have children and grand children, or want to be parents. Car engines pollute 95 percent less than they did in the 60s, there is no more lead in gasoline, people are living 20 years longer than in the 60s. None of that has any bearing on the use of a cat.
Before the cat, there was an air pump to burn excess gases in our volvos. But air pumps driven by the fan belt were inneficient and expensive, so the cat was born. Inside the cat are all kinds of nasty things and expensive metals. Where do cats go when they die? Landfill? Into our water supply? They don't get recycled!
Perhaps people in LA shouldn't eat cabbage and stop exhaling. The dirty air will eventually blow across the country and wind up in New England :D
