Trunk drains - in trunk gutter - 1 is clogged 850 1995

Do I open the trunk and pull off the rubber drain hose? It's probably clogged with pine needles. The rubber hose seems to be on pretty tight - so I'm just checking if there are any 'tricks' I need to know about.
