did you drill a couple.... V70-XC70 1998

of holes at the bottom of the airpump housing(facing the pavement).

The seizing of the motor is an indication that water is accumulating at the pump, and slowly damages the wheel bearings as the water evaporates.

By the way, great write up. Now go on and drill a couple of 1/8" holes to save your work.
