Hey Mark,
I'm beginning to suspect a possible reason for the "no start and stalling" problem on the '84 850. I myself have had problems with periodic stalling after a short stop and have come up with the following...
Spark is good,
Vacuum is good,
Fuel delivery is bad. (low, or non-existant.)
Injectors are okay.
Relay is okay.
Pump is okay.
So, what I'm thinking is that the fuel is being drawn back toward the tank and creating a negative flow. (more pronounced when the temperature is above 65F.)
Try removing your gas cap, pump the accelerator an few times and see if she starts.
