it means there is a fault code in the system. Usually is due to a defective or dirty cabin temp sensor.

It is a good habit to run the AC system in manual mode not the auto mode. This way the system is not dependent on sensors, just plain on/off, you decide to make it cooler or not, not the computer module. I use mine this way and avoid ac fault codes.
