Looking at an 850 850

Timing belt every 70K--if it breaks, it's a $4K engine repair because the 850 is an interference engine. Be sure flame trap and hoses are clear, if they are plugged, overpressure in crankcase will take out engine/transmission seal and that is a $1-1.5k repair. Be sure air conditioning working, evaporator tends to go bad depending on your climate (ie humid vs dry) and thats a $1.5K repair.

Those are the majors, ABS controller tends to go bad, but there is a place in CA that rebuilds them for $125.00 and Victor does quality work. Swaybar endlinks tend to go bad, but that is an inexpensive repair you can do yourself. Your struts and shocks are probably nearing the end of their run, but that is an easy check.

Engine is harder to work on than what you've been used to because of a tight fit, but still manageable.

My 96 turbo is the best car I've ever had--intend to run it for as long as possible. There have been posts here with 300K+ miles on their 850s. Furthermore you have this great site to make you knowleagable about the car...
